October Favourites

Hi everyone!

So it has hit that time of the month again where I feel as though I should share with you the products that I have been loving this month.

Lavender
The first scent that I have been loving this month is lavender. Lavender has always been a favourite of mine, but it has recently made it's way back into my favourites after my Granddad's wedding. Lavender was used as table decorations and the smell around the room was absolutely gorgeous, so I thought that I would gather some for myself to place in my room.

Soap and Glory: 'Mist You Madly' Body Spray
The second scent I have been adoring is the Soap and Glory 'Mist You Madly' body spray. I recently re-discovered this unused item in my Soap and Glory kit box (where I keep all of my Soap and Glory items) and I just though to myself, why did I not use this earlier?! This fragrance is so light and floral I just can not get enough of it. It's nearly all gone now though which I am not surprised at though seeing as I have used it every day so far this month, so I am going to have to make a cheeky little re-purchase.

Avon: Strawberry Room and Linen Spray
Last month I found that I didn't have a spray which I could spray around my room to give it that little burst of 'freshness', so I purchased this out of my Avon book. This spray is very fruity and I found that it gives my room that little burst of freshness when it needs it most. I truly do adore this scent.

Planet Spa: Mediterranean Olive Oil Hot Oil
At one point I was getting bored of using bubble bath in my baths and I wanted to look for something different to add to my bath for me to soak in. So one day I decided to invest in this oil and I will tell you, I haven't looked back since. This oil leaves your skin feeling absolutely amazing after a bath, and there is no need to use a moisturiser afterwards as your skin is so full of moisture.

Sanctuary: Luxury Bath Float
Just above this I did note that I was getting a bit bored of using bubble bath, but I wouldn't class this product as a 'bubble bath'. There are a few bubbles which are made with the float and water combination, but like the oil it is just amazing. The smell is amazing, the texture is amazing and it is just all-round amazing.

Sanctuary: Body Lotion 24 Hour Moisturisation
I used this product after I had used the 'Luxury Bath Float' as I felt as though they were a perfect match. The bath float refreshed my skin and added goodness to it throughout my bath, but then the body lotion added moisture to my skin. Like the bottle says, it did give my body 24 hour moisturisation and I will make sure to re-purchase this again.

Soap and Glory: The Righteous Butter
I used this body butter of a morning after I had, had a shower. This is because it is more of a 'waking up' body butter. The smell is perfect for mornings to make you feel more refreshed and awake if you are having one of them mornings where you do not want to get out of bed, but have to.

Balance Me: Moisture Rich Face Cream
This product is only a sample but it has lasted me well throughout this month. At the end of last month I just finished my Simple moisturiser and seeing as though this was waiting to be used in my drawer, I gave it a go so that I could save some money. Giving this product a chance was the best thing I think I have ever done this month. The face cream is light, effortless and sits beautifully on my skin. As I have really oily skin, I thought that this may trigger it further but it didn't, and my skin doesn't appear to be as oily.
Maybelline Color Show
I am not too sure of the colour of this varnish but I have a feeling that it is 'Red Wine Shimmer'. I have been loving this nail varnish because I usually settle for nude colours around this time of the year, but I have found that this colour gives the perfect 'pop' of colour to your outfit. This varnish also has little flecks of muli-coloured glitter in it which I LOVE
Barry M: Pink Silver Glitter
This pink is a subtle pink which I picked up in a hurry at Boots. With little flecks of silver glitter in the pink varnish, it is the perfect girly colour for days where you need glamming and cheering up.

OPI
I am not too sure of the colour of this varnish as it didn't say (major sad face). This colour is a nude which I usually settle for this time of the month, and as it has added flecks of glitter in, it makes it less boring than if it was just a nude colour on it's own. I love OPI nail varnishes as I find that they last a long time and go a long way.

Anyway, that's the end of my October Favourites! It is a pretty big list, but I have been loving a lot this month. What have your favourites been?

Thank you for reading.

October Wishlist

Hi guys!

Even though it is nearing the middle of October already, I still saw this as an opportunity to show you guys my October Wishlist!

NARS Blush in 'Orgasm'

£21.50
I find this blusher absolutely gorgeous. I love the shimmer and the subtle pink that is entwined within the colour. I think it is about time that I purchase this and give it a try myself.

NARS Bronzer in 'Laguna'

£26.00
I adore trying out different bronzers and I have always been intrigued with this particular one. A friend of mine owns this bronzer and I recently tried it for an 18th that we both went to. I found that this bronzer sat perfectly on my face and it didn't budge throughout the night. It was also perfect for contouring, so I think I need to finally be the proud owner of this myself.

Benefit 'Gimme Brow'

£13.00
I am a sucker for a good eyebrow. I draw my eyebrows on daily purely because I don't have strong ones myself and they are very sparse. I want to try this product as I think that it will seal my eyebrows once I have filled them in, and it will give them a lasting finish.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

£32.00
I am currently the proud owner of a Chanel lipstick and I absolutely adore it. After watching Tanya Burr on YouTube, I saw that she uses this foundation in her tutorials quite a lot. I would like to try this foundation myself as I feel that it might give me a lasting finish, and it may not slide

There is my wishlist guys! I know that it isn't too big, but I am only obsessing over having a few 'wanted' products this month so far. If you have tried or are the owner of any of these products let me know and leave me a comment below!

Writing Your Personal Statement

Sorry that I haven't blogged in a while, life has taken its toll and decided to hold me up for a while, but I'm back!

I am currently going through the process of writing my personal statement and applying for university. I struggled to begin my personal statement, and now that I am at the final stages of finishing it off and perfecting it, I thought that I would share with you guys how to start, process and complete your personal statements if you are going through the same process that I am and struggling too.

1. An opening sentence that describes you!
When beginning to write your personal statement, you need an opening sentence that describes you. I know that for some people, writing about themselves isn't the first thing that they would choose to do, but in an interview it is likely that you will be asked to describe yourself, and it is what you need when starting off your personal statement.

2. Your passion for what you want to study and why!
Secondly, you need to express your love and enthusiasm for the subject/s that you are wanting to study, and why you love them so. The people reading your personal statements need to see why they should accept you into their university, and if it is worth tutoring and lecturing you, and if they can fulfill your passion.

3. What have you achieved?
This is your time to shine. What have you achieved? What have you done in your life so far that your proud of? Make sure that you explain it in detail because it's all about you.

4. Your employment!
Are you employed? Have you been employed? How many jobs have you had? Explain what you have done and what skills and qualities this has brought you.

5. Time for some summarisation. Why should the university pick you?
This is when you explain why the university should pick you, and what you can bring to the university. Why do you wish to study there? What are you looking forward to? A good summary will bring your personal statement together.

There is a small structure that you can follow to write your personal statement. I hope you find this useful!

The Autumn Tag

Hi guys!

Seeing this tag on a fair few blogs has made me super excited for autumn, so I thought I participate in completing the autumn tag for you guys too! Autumn and winter are my 2 favourite months. This is because I love the colour change, wrapping up warm, experimental drinks in Costa and preparing for Christmas! Anyway, I seem to be getting carried away so lets get started!

1. Favourite thing about autumn?
My favourite thing about autumn is that Christmas is just around the corner, the cold weather and the dark nights. I absolutely love wrapping up warm and going for long walks in pretty places.

2. Favourite drink?
My favourite drink is the Honeycomb Hot Chocolate from Costa. These are the most perfect  drinks whilst studying for January mocks, or even just to sit with in the school common room when I have free periods!

3. Favourite scent?
My favourite sent is the Green Fig room spray and oil burner oil. It reminds me so much of my nans house, which is where I spend the majority of my time all year round, let alone during winter.

4. Best lipstick?
I like to go for dark lipsticks in the autumn period. My favourite lipstick during this season is Chanel Rouge Allure in Prodigious.

5. Go to moisturiser?
My 'go to moisturiser' is the moisturiser that I go to all year round. It is the Soap and Glory Body Milk in Smoothie Star. It has a cookie and cream scent, and it smells so yummy that I just want to eat it!

6. Go to colour for the eyes?
I like a subtle, brown smokey eye for the eyes in the autumn period. This is because it adds character to outfits and makes the face look fit for autumn. It looks so much better with dark lipsticks too.

7. Favourite music/band to listen to?
I don't necessarily have a favourite band that I like to listen too. It just depends what music is on the radio, or who I have taken an appeal to!

8. Favourite outfit to wear?
I like the classic 'jeans and jumper' kinda outfit. I would make this complete with either loafers or boots, and a duffle coat. I would probably also add a snood or a standard scarf, gloves and a head warmer. :)

9. Autumn treat?
I love a good bowl of popcorn in the autumn time! I don't know why, but it is the perfect seasonal comfort food whilst painting your nails or reading a book!

10. Favourite place to be?
My all-time favourite place to be is my nans house. This is because I find it so calming and serene here. I would say that it is my happy place.

What are your favourite autumn things?

The Liebster Award

Hello everyone!

So tonight I am going to be doing the 'Liebster Award'. This is something I have seen on quite a few blogs, and it is a way of seeing new blogs and different posts! The aim is to answer 11 questions, and then at the end of those I will give you 11 questions that you have to answer, if I have nominated you to do so. Lets get cracking!

Why did you start a blog and what do you hope to gain from doing it?
I started a blog because I wanted to be a part of a community. A lot of people I watch and follow on the internet have blogs, so I thought that I would 'jump on the band wagon' and see what it was all about. A few months down the line, 'Jessie' was born! I didn't really aim to gain anything from making a blog, apart from seeing lots of peoples reviews on things they love, making friends and sharing my lifestyle with you all.

What is your favourite clothes shop?
I don't have a favourite clothes shop, but if I was to shop at a place more than others it must be Topshop. This is purely because, despite the expense, I love the different fashion styles they bring to clothing.

What do you prefer, make-up or clothes?
I prefer make-up, but that is purely down to the fact that I am a beauty blogger and not a fashion blogger. Don't get me wrong, I love getting new clothes and outfits, but there is just something about make-up that makes me exceptionally happy.

Do you have any siblings?
I do! I have a younger brother and sister who are twins. They are 11 years old and are currently in their first year of secondary school. Yay for them!

Who is your favourite blogger/YouTuber?
I could not answer that with only one answer. My favourite bloggers and YouTubers are:
- Tanya Burr~ tanyaburr.co.uk
- Zoella~ www.zoella.co.uk
- Sprinkle of Glitter~ sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.com

What is your favourite high end brand?
I have a lot of favourite high end brands. At the moment though, I'm loving MAC and Chanel.

What can you not leave the house without?
I simply can't leave the house without my mobile phone.
It's my joy.
I use it all of the time, and I never put it down. Never!

What is the most you have spent on a make-up item?
This is hard to think about as I have a lot of make-up items that do and have cost quite a few pennies! They would probably have to be my Chanel Lipstick, Estee Lauder Foundation (massive refil pump) and my MAC products. Oh, and my Real Techniques Brushes. Massive love for them.

Where is your favourite place to shop for beauty?
Depending on drugstore and high end, there are 2 different favourite places of mine. For drugstore beauty products, I like good-old trustworthy Boots. Can't go wrong with a bit of Boots shopping! For my high end beauty products, I love Selfridges.

What is your favourite TV programme?
I know it's not 'one' TV programme, but I love the soaps :). My guilty pleasure.

Dream job?
My dream job has always been to be a Philosophy teacher in a secondary school. If I wasn't or didn't have the luck in that though, I would aspire to be a make-up artist.

To do this tag, I nominate:

I know that it is only 1 person and not 11, but I am just getting you started so that it can be passed on.
My questions for you are:

1. Where is your dream holiday?
2. What do you aspire to be?
3. Who is your idol?
4. What is your favourite item of clothing?
5. What is your favourite beauty product?
6. What is your favourite prospect about blogging?
7. Who are your favourite blogs that you follow?
8. What do you love about Christmas?
9. What is your favourite item of food?
10. Where s your 'happy place'?
11. What are you currently studying at school?

Thank you for reading guys!

What Is In My Make-Up Bag?

For me, a good make-up bag is a girls best friend, so I thought I would share with you all what is currently in my makeup bag!

Make-up bag- Next
I recently purchased this make-up bag as my other one became very dirty, and it proved to be difficult to wash. Seeing as though I was in Next shopping for Sixth Form clothes, I came across this make-up bag and instantly fell in love. Purple is my favourite colour, and I thought that the little butterfly on the top added the finishing touch without it looking too much.

From left to right:
Real Techniques Blusher Brush
Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Real Techniques Stippling Brush
Real Techniques Shading Brush
Avon Powder Brush
Paddle Eye Shadow Brush
Angled Brush
When applying make-up, I always like to apply mine with a brush. Some people prefer to use their hands and fingers when doing this however, I think using a brush adds precision and gives the make-up a better finish. I am a big fan of the Real Techniques brushes, and I do like to add more to my collection whenever I can. What are your favourite make-up brushes?

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Ivory
Second in my make-up bag is my foundation. This Rimmel foundation is my all-time favourite drugstore foundation. This is because it gives an even coverage and it illuminates the face, making it look fabulous in photographs!
Max Factor Wild Mega Mascara & Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara both in Black
In a recent post, I noted that I am quite a skeptic when it comes to mascaras however, these 2 mascaras are the best mascaras I have ever used. The 'Day 2 Night' mascara gives a false eyelashes look, whilst the 'Wild Mega' mascara gives the volume. These are definitely 2 mascaras which I will be purchasing again.
No7 Duo Bronzer
I got this bronzer as part of a gift set for Christmas last year. I have never usually thought to use ronzer in my daily make-up, and it can be quite scary as sometimes it is quite difficult to determine how much is going to be applied to the face, and how much bronzer is actually going to come off the palette. I found this bronzer was very easy to apply, and not a lot came off the palette, making it very easy to use.

Eyelash Curlers
I always carry a pair of eyelash curlers in my make-up bag, as I always use them. I curl my eyelashes because I think it makes the mascara sit better on the eyelashes and it always adds a simple finishing tough. It also makes the eyelashes look longer, so if your like me and suffer from short eyelashes, I would go and purchase yourself a pair if you don't already have them, and give them a go!

No7 Eye shadow in Starry Lights
I always use a base eyes hadow even if I am not performing a smokey eye, or going for the no eye liner look. This is simply because I get very oily eyelids, so I have to use an eye shadow all of the time, to ensure that my foundation on my eyelids doesn't slide. This eye shadow has a gold undertone, so it looks beautiful on its own, but it also looks gorgeous as a base for a smokey eye too.

Natural Collection Eye Shadow Duo in Mocha/Latte
As you can see, this eye shadow palette is very well loved. I use the Mocha colour on my eye brows as it is the perfect colour for me, and I use the Latte colour as a highlighter on top of my brow bone. Even though I don't use it for its use, I do sometimes use the Mocha colour in my eyelid crease for a bit of shadowing, when I decide to do a smokey eye. I also sometimes use the Latte colour as a base eye shadow if I am wanting to go for a 'Plain Jane' kind of day.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Mint Fresh
I am the proud owner of 2 Baby Lips lip balms, and since the day I bought them, I have never looked back. These are my favourite lip balms in the whole entire world. Even though I don't have a lipstick in my make-up bag at the moment, this is because I am trying to nourish my lips as they can become quite dry from using a lipstick so often, so I am having a break! My lips feel so much nicer and the smell and taste is delicious! Totally recommend.

Max Factor Creme Blush in Soft Copper
I have been loving creme blushers at the moment as they are so much more pigmented than powder blushers. Creme blushers also last longer and they can be used much more precisely and go where you put them without them budging throughout the day.

Natural Collection Loose Powder in Translucent
I always use a powder to seal my foundation and other make-up, and because I use so much of it, I found I was buying so much and spending so much money on this product. After discovering Natural Collection did loose powder, I made sure that I bought a couple for the same price as buying a high end powder. I always buy my powders in Translucent as well. This is so no other colour is added to my face, and it doesn't make me look 'orange' after completing my make-up for the day.

Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
I love a good concealer, and I always put it on top of my foundation. I apply it under my eyes, on my brow bone, on the bridge of my nose, around my nose, on my chin and on any other blemishes I have at the time. This concealer is nice and creamy and is of a nice consistency. I love the applicator as it makes it easy to apply, and it doesn't budge throughout the day.
MAC Kohl Eyeliner and Avon Color Trend Kohl Eyeliner both in Black
I use black eyeliner in the corners of my eyes and to line the lash line, making it appear thicker than it is. The MAC eyeliner isn't as pigmented as the Avon one, but this can be nice if you do not want such a harsh look.
Natural Collection Kohl Eyeliner in White
I use white eyeliner on the waterline of my eye sometimes to make my eye appear bigger and wider than it is. I also use it on the tear duct corner to add a bit of brightness to the inside of my eye. I didn't believe that it would truly work until I tried it out, and I found that I was wrong and it definitely does!
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown
I don't often use my eyebrow pencil anymore, but if there isn't a part of my eyebrow which doesn't take to the powder, then I will fill it in with a pencil. I like the little brush on the end as it blends the powder into the eyebrow hairs, giving it that natural look.

Standard Angled Tweezers
I always carry tweezers around as you can never tell when you are going to need them!

I hope giving you an insight to my make-up bag gives you some ideas of your own, and if you choose to do a 'What Is In My Make-Up Bag?' then tag me as I would love to have a nosey!

Ciao for now!

Little Adventure's In Life

So recently it has been that point in my life where I have to make the decision of whether I would like to venture of to university straight after I leave Sixth Form, or if I would like to take a year out and go travelling. This was a tough decision for me as I have always dreamed of going travelling, but I decided that university seemed more important to me at this point in my life, and I feel as though I should get it over and done with whilst I can, and also whilst I have the support that is available to me.

Although I will not be going travelling after this year, I have an urge to share with you the top 5 places where I dream of visiting after I graduate from university!

#1- Paris
I went on a school trip to France in Year 8, and as part of this we got to visit Paris. I instantly fell in love with the city, as I thought the buildings and detail of it seemed so intricate. Sadly however, we only got to stay there for an hour as it was only a drive through as we were heading back to England. I would love to be able to visit Paris again, but make sure to stay there for longer as there is so much to see and do.

#2- New York
I have never been to America, but I have always dreamed of visiting there. This is probably down to watching so many adverts of Disney Land Florida as a child, but it is somewhere I have wanted to visit for so long. I have wanted to visit America for so long, that it even came to the point where I was contacting Seattle University for information about international students. After a lot of thinking though, I decided that I would miss my family too much as I am a big family person, and I didn't think that I would be able to cope without them for such a long period of time.

#3- Australia
When we were younger, me and my cousin Danielle were very close, until she moved away to Australia. I didn't really think anything of this place, up until Danielle posted photographs on Instagram and Facebook, and looking at these photographs made me really jealous of the place where she lives. Australia looks such a gorgeous place to visit, and it is definitely on my bucket list of places to go. Seeing as though my Great Nan and Aunty often go out there to visit my cousins, it wouldn't be such a bad idea for me to 'tag along' with them and finally tick off something off my bucket list. :)

#4- Italy
As my dad is half Italian, I have always been aware of this culture and always had the opportunity to try different Italian foods which have been made from scratch. My nan has always shown me photographs of her home village out in Italy, and it looks like such a beautiful place to visit. The buildings are so tiny and cute! Unfortunately though, I think this may be something I will have to fulfill on my own as my nan doesn't go out there a lot anymore, and neither does my dad. Therefore, I will probably have to drag a friend along with me!

#5- China
When I was in lower school, doing my GCSE's, there was a trip running to China. Because of the options that I decided to take, it wasn't possible for me to take part as it clashed. I was very disappointed with this, as the Chinese culture seems amazing. A very good friend of mine, Linsey, is half Filipino, and even though she isn't Chinese, her mum makes THE BEST fried rice ever! Also, Linsey really wants to go sight seeing, so I will be making sure she comes with me!

I will have to make sure that visiting these places get's done, as writing about them makes me more excited to graduate university sooner!

What are your top places that you want to visit?

Also, check out Linsey's blog. Its amazing. - www.redvelvetkiss.blogspot.co.uk

Ciao for now,
