Philosophy

Hello everyone.

Earlier on I was reading through my 'About Me' tab on my blog and editing it, and I included that I am a lover of 'philosophy'. This gave me the opportunity to explain to you why I love philosophy, why I chose to study it at GCSE level and A-Level, what inspires me the most about it and why I would like to take it at degree level.

How I grew to love the  subject
I was first introduced to philosophy through Religious Studies in year 10 during my GCSE's. I took this subject as I enjoyed Lifeskills further down the school, and I wanted to see what else was involved with the course. Of course, I never looked back. It was getting to the point where my peers were swapping and changing their GCSE subjects because they found that they didn't like them, and I often got asked if I would like to change one of mine but I refused and carried them all on. I should probably mention that I took Religious Studies (RS), Geography and Health & Social Care on at GCSE level and didn't drop or change a single choice. I passed this subject at GCSE level with A*'s and thought "I love this subject, it is definitely for me". I then chose to study it at A-Level, and whilst I am studying it now I decided that I would like to carry Philosophy on, study it at degree level and then get a Secondary PGCE so that I can teach it in a secondary school.

Why I like it
I like this subject because it offers so much insight into other aspects of the world that you wouldn't even dream of. You study philosophers who have amazing ways of thinking, and their thoughts of how the world was made and God's existence.

What inspires me most?
I enjoy reading and studying Ancient Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. This is because they have such fresh theories about different things, and also their theories are the originals. If it wasn't for Socrates, then we wouldn't know what philosophy is today and if it wasn't for Plato then no-one would have carried out philosophy after Socrates' death.

Why do I want to take philosophy at degree level?
I want to take philosophy at degree level because I don't think I could see my life without philosophy in it. This is because it has become such a huge part of my life over the past 4 years, and it is something which I don't think I would ever get bored of learning about. I also want to influence the future youth about philosophy and inspire them the same way that I was inspired.

So there is my little post on philosophy.
What subjects do you enjoy learning about?

Little Lip Collection

Hello lovelies.

I have had this post brewing for a while but I couldn't find the time to post it, but here it is. Say hello to my Little Lip Collection!

From 1-5...

  • 1. This lipstick is Rimmel- Lasting Finish Color Rush in the colour 220 'Rumour Has It'. I love this lipstick as it doesn;t budge off your lips! You can choose the pigmentation depending how much you choose to apply to the lips, and the scent is edible!
  • 2. This is another Rimmel lipstick but it is from the Kate edition in 08. This lipstick is super pigmented and also stays really well on the lips.
  • 3. This lipstick is a Maybelline lipstick in the colour 912 'Electric Orange'. I don't usually go for this type of colour but it was summertime and I wanted to spruce up my lipstick collection a little bit so I opted for this colour!
  • 4. This is another Maybelline product from the Baby Lips range. This is in the colour 'Cherry Me'. When I bought this product I had really dry lips and I wanted to wear a lip balm every day however, I also wanted a little colour on my lips too. This lip product is perfect for an everyday wear and the colour comes out quite strong as well. The smell is also delicious.
  • 5. Joining the previous product, this is another Maybelline Baby Lips in 'Mint Fresh'. Even though this doesn't have any colour too it, I was in need of a lip balm for when I went to bed to keep my lips refreshed, and seeing as though I loved my other Baby Lips product, I purchased this one too.
From 6-10...

  • 6. Moving onto the No7 lipsticks this is one of their Stay Perfect lipsticks in 'Classic Rose'. This is a very smooth and pigmented lipstick and is one of my favourites for a night time look.
  • 7. Another No7 lisptick from their Sheer Temptation editions in the colour 40 'Lovely'. I like this lipstick because it doesn't feel as though you are wearing a lipstick, and more of a gloss. It also doesn't dry out your lips which you can also sometimes find when wearing lipsticks.
  • 8. This is one of the No7 lip pencils in the colour 20 'Nude'. I like to wear a lip pencil when I wear a darker lipstick as I find that the darker colours sometimes run onto the foundation. This colour is also in nude so it doesn't add any colour onto the lip and sits nicely underneath a dark lipstick without showing through.
  • 9. This is a lipgloss from the Soap and Glory range: Sexy Mother Pucker in the colour 'Punch Bowl'. This lipgloss is super thick and is a plumping lipgloss! Your lips feel all tingly when wearing this lipgloss and it actually does work, even though my lips are big enough!
  • 10. Another lipgloss from the Sexy Mother Pucker range in the colour 'Candy Gloss'. This colour is a lot more sheer than the 'Punch Bowl', but it still has that tingling effect when it is applied.
From 11-16...

  • 11. This is another lip balm and it is from Carmex in the scent 'Strawberry'. I will only use this if its an emergency as it has quite an effect, but it is brilliant when it needs to be used.
  • 12. This lipstick is one of my favourites and it is from Chanel in the Rouge Allure range in the colour 40 'Prodigios'. This colour has little flecks of gold running through it and looks beautiful on the lip.
  • 13. This is a Body Shop lip gloss in the scent 'Mango'. I love this if I am just popping out and don't want a colour on the lip, and I also sometimes wear this for school too.
  • 14. This is a lipstick from Avon in the colour 'Beige'. When I bought this I was into a nude lip, but since I have investigated a darker lip, I don't really wear this anymore. I would wear this colour though if I performed a dramatic eye look on an evening out.
  • 15. This is a Lip Butter from Revlon in the colour 001 'Pink Truffle'. My mum didn't like this product so she gave it to me which was handy seeing as though I was just about to buy the exact same one! I love this product and it is my favourite at the moment. It leaves a creamy texture on the lip and stays on for hours.
  • 16. This is a lip pencil from Kiss Australia in the colour Sand. Just like my nude lip pencil, I will use this to stop dark colours running.
That's my little lip collection guys and thank you for reading.
If you have done your own post of lip collections, then tag me in it so I can have a little nosey and see yours, maybe for some ideas of my own.

Made-over Blog

Hi everyone!

A few days ago I asked the lovely Rose from Truly. Madly. Deeply (click to be taken to her blog) if she would kindly re-do my blog as I was so bored of the way it looked and it needed a new design. Rose creates her own designs for blogs and she gets them done in no time at all! Before I new it, my blog was completely all done and how amazing does it look?!

So thank-you so much Rose for revamping my blog and making it truly look beautiful.

Rose has a tab on her blog labelled 'designs', so I really recommend that you guys go and have a look and see if Rose can give your blogs some magic if you feel as though your blog needs sprucing up (mine definitely did).

What do you guys think of my new blog?

October Favourites

Hi everyone!

So it has hit that time of the month again where I feel as though I should share with you the products that I have been loving this month.

Lavender
The first scent that I have been loving this month is lavender. Lavender has always been a favourite of mine, but it has recently made it's way back into my favourites after my Granddad's wedding. Lavender was used as table decorations and the smell around the room was absolutely gorgeous, so I thought that I would gather some for myself to place in my room.

Soap and Glory: 'Mist You Madly' Body Spray
The second scent I have been adoring is the Soap and Glory 'Mist You Madly' body spray. I recently re-discovered this unused item in my Soap and Glory kit box (where I keep all of my Soap and Glory items) and I just though to myself, why did I not use this earlier?! This fragrance is so light and floral I just can not get enough of it. It's nearly all gone now though which I am not surprised at though seeing as I have used it every day so far this month, so I am going to have to make a cheeky little re-purchase.

Avon: Strawberry Room and Linen Spray
Last month I found that I didn't have a spray which I could spray around my room to give it that little burst of 'freshness', so I purchased this out of my Avon book. This spray is very fruity and I found that it gives my room that little burst of freshness when it needs it most. I truly do adore this scent.

Planet Spa: Mediterranean Olive Oil Hot Oil
At one point I was getting bored of using bubble bath in my baths and I wanted to look for something different to add to my bath for me to soak in. So one day I decided to invest in this oil and I will tell you, I haven't looked back since. This oil leaves your skin feeling absolutely amazing after a bath, and there is no need to use a moisturiser afterwards as your skin is so full of moisture.

Sanctuary: Luxury Bath Float
Just above this I did note that I was getting a bit bored of using bubble bath, but I wouldn't class this product as a 'bubble bath'. There are a few bubbles which are made with the float and water combination, but like the oil it is just amazing. The smell is amazing, the texture is amazing and it is just all-round amazing.

Sanctuary: Body Lotion 24 Hour Moisturisation
I used this product after I had used the 'Luxury Bath Float' as I felt as though they were a perfect match. The bath float refreshed my skin and added goodness to it throughout my bath, but then the body lotion added moisture to my skin. Like the bottle says, it did give my body 24 hour moisturisation and I will make sure to re-purchase this again.

Soap and Glory: The Righteous Butter
I used this body butter of a morning after I had, had a shower. This is because it is more of a 'waking up' body butter. The smell is perfect for mornings to make you feel more refreshed and awake if you are having one of them mornings where you do not want to get out of bed, but have to.

Balance Me: Moisture Rich Face Cream
This product is only a sample but it has lasted me well throughout this month. At the end of last month I just finished my Simple moisturiser and seeing as though this was waiting to be used in my drawer, I gave it a go so that I could save some money. Giving this product a chance was the best thing I think I have ever done this month. The face cream is light, effortless and sits beautifully on my skin. As I have really oily skin, I thought that this may trigger it further but it didn't, and my skin doesn't appear to be as oily.
Maybelline Color Show
I am not too sure of the colour of this varnish but I have a feeling that it is 'Red Wine Shimmer'. I have been loving this nail varnish because I usually settle for nude colours around this time of the year, but I have found that this colour gives the perfect 'pop' of colour to your outfit. This varnish also has little flecks of muli-coloured glitter in it which I LOVE
Barry M: Pink Silver Glitter
This pink is a subtle pink which I picked up in a hurry at Boots. With little flecks of silver glitter in the pink varnish, it is the perfect girly colour for days where you need glamming and cheering up.

OPI
I am not too sure of the colour of this varnish as it didn't say (major sad face). This colour is a nude which I usually settle for this time of the month, and as it has added flecks of glitter in, it makes it less boring than if it was just a nude colour on it's own. I love OPI nail varnishes as I find that they last a long time and go a long way.

Anyway, that's the end of my October Favourites! It is a pretty big list, but I have been loving a lot this month. What have your favourites been?

Thank you for reading.

October Wishlist

Hi guys!

Even though it is nearing the middle of October already, I still saw this as an opportunity to show you guys my October Wishlist!

NARS Blush in 'Orgasm'

£21.50
I find this blusher absolutely gorgeous. I love the shimmer and the subtle pink that is entwined within the colour. I think it is about time that I purchase this and give it a try myself.

NARS Bronzer in 'Laguna'

£26.00
I adore trying out different bronzers and I have always been intrigued with this particular one. A friend of mine owns this bronzer and I recently tried it for an 18th that we both went to. I found that this bronzer sat perfectly on my face and it didn't budge throughout the night. It was also perfect for contouring, so I think I need to finally be the proud owner of this myself.

Benefit 'Gimme Brow'

£13.00
I am a sucker for a good eyebrow. I draw my eyebrows on daily purely because I don't have strong ones myself and they are very sparse. I want to try this product as I think that it will seal my eyebrows once I have filled them in, and it will give them a lasting finish.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

£32.00
I am currently the proud owner of a Chanel lipstick and I absolutely adore it. After watching Tanya Burr on YouTube, I saw that she uses this foundation in her tutorials quite a lot. I would like to try this foundation myself as I feel that it might give me a lasting finish, and it may not slide

There is my wishlist guys! I know that it isn't too big, but I am only obsessing over having a few 'wanted' products this month so far. If you have tried or are the owner of any of these products let me know and leave me a comment below!

Writing Your Personal Statement

Sorry that I haven't blogged in a while, life has taken its toll and decided to hold me up for a while, but I'm back!

I am currently going through the process of writing my personal statement and applying for university. I struggled to begin my personal statement, and now that I am at the final stages of finishing it off and perfecting it, I thought that I would share with you guys how to start, process and complete your personal statements if you are going through the same process that I am and struggling too.

1. An opening sentence that describes you!
When beginning to write your personal statement, you need an opening sentence that describes you. I know that for some people, writing about themselves isn't the first thing that they would choose to do, but in an interview it is likely that you will be asked to describe yourself, and it is what you need when starting off your personal statement.

2. Your passion for what you want to study and why!
Secondly, you need to express your love and enthusiasm for the subject/s that you are wanting to study, and why you love them so. The people reading your personal statements need to see why they should accept you into their university, and if it is worth tutoring and lecturing you, and if they can fulfill your passion.

3. What have you achieved?
This is your time to shine. What have you achieved? What have you done in your life so far that your proud of? Make sure that you explain it in detail because it's all about you.

4. Your employment!
Are you employed? Have you been employed? How many jobs have you had? Explain what you have done and what skills and qualities this has brought you.

5. Time for some summarisation. Why should the university pick you?
This is when you explain why the university should pick you, and what you can bring to the university. Why do you wish to study there? What are you looking forward to? A good summary will bring your personal statement together.

There is a small structure that you can follow to write your personal statement. I hope you find this useful!
